Karen DeSalvo, MD, MPH, MSc is a primary care physician who is currently Professor of Medicine and Population Health at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. He teaches a course on A.I., Entrepreneurship and Society at Stanford University and has five degrees from MIT. In addition to his investments, Hemant serves on the Stanford School of Medicine Board of Fellows, is the co-founder of Advanced Energy Economy, an organization focused on transforming energy policy in America and is a board member of Khan Academy, a non-profit educational organization. Notable investments include Livongo Health and Fractyl, both focused on helping diabetes sufferers manage the disease more easily, Color Genomics, Corvia Medical, and Humedica (acquired by United Healthcare). He is particularly interested in startups that are reinventing experiences for consumers and care teams from first principles. As an investor, Hemant backs founders with authentic missions that have the potential to change entire industries, including healthcare. Hemant Taneja is a managing director at General Catalyst and is the author of UNSCALED, a 2018 book that provides a framework for responsible use of AI in the software-driven secular rewrite of the economy. She received her bachelor of science in economics with a minor in systems engineering from the United States Military Academy and served in the United States Army, departing with the rank of Captain. She earned a master's degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where she concentrated her studies in health industry management. Inherent in these models are the underpinning transformative clinical and care delivery models. She was responsible for the development, growth and performance of Aetna’s value-based care and contracting models including Aetna’s Whole Health (ACO) product portfolio in support of enhancing local population health models. Previously, Brigitte was CEO of Aetna’s Accountable Care Solutions organization. Prior to that, Andrea was Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Specials and Late Night at ABC.Īs president of Joint Venture Markets for Aetna, Brigitte drives the execution of the business plans for Aetna’s Joint Venture markets with a focus on achieving goals through growth, advancing Aetna’s relationship with the provider and transforming the way care is delivered locally. Andrea also served as President and CEO of Lifetime Networks where she oversaw the operations of Lifetime Television, Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime Real Women, and Lifetime Digital, including programming, marketing, advertising sales, affiliate sales, public affairs, business and legal affairs, strategic planning, operations and research. Among her many achievements, Andrea brought the Golden Globe winner, The Crown, to Sony. She oversaw Sony Pictures Television’s 18 overseas production companies, creating nearly 1,300 hours of entertainment around the world each year.
